Dressage Clinics

At Shenandoah River Farm, we host both Hunter and Dressage Clinics. Respected judges from the VHSA  Program offer excellent instruction in hunt seat riding, both under saddle and over fences, to our resident and guest students. These clinics are extremely helpful to improve one's effectiveness in the show ring and one's riding partnership. The dates for both the hunter and dressage clinics can be found on the Show Team Page, and contact Robin to inquire about space availability and cost per clinic.

We are extremely honored to host Nancy Lowey, "R" Judge, for Dressage Clinics! Nancy is an accomplished rider, currently competing Grand Prix and aspiring for the "S" judge's certification, as well as a talented, kind, and thoughtful instructor. Nancy enthusiastically teaches riders, horses, and ponies of all levels, for competition preparation or for the enjoyable reward of improving your horse and your partnership! Nancy is challenging but patient, and a very good communicator! Just contact Robin for more information on the clinics and the availability of training with Nancy. Please read more about Nancy's impressive resume below.

Nancy Lowey has been a USEF Dressage Technical Delegate since the late 1980's. Along with that license, she also holds the USEF large "R" dressage judge's license and is currently working towards the 'S' license.

Nancy is a high school teacher and librarian in Virginia. She holds a B.S. in Education and Master degrees in Library Science and Special Education.

She is currently training her horse in the Grand Prix movements and is showing him this season at Grand Prix.

Nancy holds the USDF Bronze and Silver Medals and is working on two more scores to earn her USDF Gold Medal. As a dressage show organizer for over 20 years, she has show management experience, as well. She has served as the Virginia Dressage Association (VADA) State President for 2 terms as well as President and co-founder of New York's Orange County Dressage Association for 6 years back in 1989. Currently she is the Vice -President for the VADA-Charlottesville Chapter.

Nancy has been teaching the principals of dressage to students for over 25 years. Teaching and judging are some of her favorite things to do.

Her upbeat and positive teaching style is based on the constant reinforcement of dressage principles using biomechanics of the horse as her cornerstone. All concepts and exercises are broken down for the rider with clear explanations of the aids and their affect on the horse. Nancy's short and long term objectives are successful training outcomes for all students.

All the members of the Shenandoah River Farm family want to wish God's richest blessings on Nancy and Peter in their 2009 competition year. May all your dreams come true!
